Continuing on with my Kitchen ramblings... yesterday while browsing through some of my idea folders I was blown away by sheer number of colored kitchens I have listed as "LOVED". Hmmm, do we need to rethink this whole white thing???

There are a few things consistant in all the photos that I know MUST be incorporated into our design:

1. recessed upper cabinets. I love that little peek of counter-top instead of doing floor to ceiling cabinets.

2. You should always have a good view when doing dirty work! We plan on installing another large window and moving the sink directly in front of a row of 3 windows.

again with the little counter ledge.... but those tiny drawers are awfully cute too!

3. I NEED AN ISLAND.

But should it be fixed, or on cute legs like this to feel a little more breezy?

4. I love the little arches at the bottom of cabinets like this.

5. Cabinets that go all the way to the ceiling.

6. Carrera marble counters are non-negotiable! And I am soooo drawn to this blue, maybe it will be incorporated into the island in a subtle way.

Again with the arched plinths, and marble...

7. A farmhouse sink is another must have. (oh yeah, and if this is your kitchen, can you adopt me???)

And am just generally loving this kitchen too! The cabinet style is exact what I am after.

And now Wren and I are off to do some painting and playing with the lovely Frugal Contessa~
Hope you have a fabulous Friday!

Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous. I agree with everything you've listed as must haves - but especially number five. I hate the gap between my upper cabinets and the ceiling. Can't wait to see the finished product in your home Holly! See you and little miss Wren very soon!

LOVE your inspirations! I've redone 2 kitchens (well 1 redone and 1 had built in our new home). I wish I made the window area larger so you're smart for thinking of it now to place the sink in front of.

I wish I could find this picture for you, there was this beautiful white kitchen with cabinets that went all the way to the top and had one of those library ladders that slid across the rail. It was so beautiful. I'll see if I can find the link the post it for you :)

Thanks for your daily inspiration!!

Beautiful inspirations pics! I almost did the cabinets all the way down to the counter, but just couldn't give up that much needed counter space! And you will love a farm sink! I can't imagine ever being without one now that I have one!

I can't wait to see how your kitchen turns out. With inspiration like this people will be using "your" kitchen as their inspiration!

LOVE your inspiration photos. We are planning our kitchen reno, too. I am actually moving my kitchen into another room...am I crazy or what? After I sent you the link last night to that kitchen reno, I thought I should have clarified. I just thought what she did with her range hood was pretty awesome, and how she took her original cabinets and made the so fabulous by adding the toppers. The style wasn't 100% on, but the methods were pretty good. Can't wait to see what you do! ~mary~

I wanted so many of those things ... marble counters, farmhouse sink, white cabinets but all were cut due to the budget. I got 42" cabinets but don't have a big enough kitchen to give up the counter space.

You kitchen is going to be incredible. Can't wait to see it!

I too love cabinets that feel more like furniture! My favorite are islands that are up on feet - my island is a 1800's store counter that we found antiquing - I LOVE it! I also love the rececessed cabinets - they too look like they have been there forever - all gorgeous!

All of these are so beautiful. I love the arches at the bottom of the cabinets but I know in my home that wouldn't fly. We have 2 animals and the dog and cat hair would get caught under there and I HATE cleaning that stuff up!

Otherwise all these ideas rock!!!

All of your inspiration photos are YUMMY! I can't wait to see your finished kitchen. I like the idea of the open bottom island, but personally, I need the space inside the cabinet of my island.
Happy V-Day weekend to you and your sweet family Holly!

LOVE all of the beautiful kitchens! Be careful with that carrera marble, it's SO beautiful but can stain SO easily. So keep the red wine, soda and kool aid far away from it!!

Forget the little arches at the bottom - they are huge dust collectors and I know because I loved them and had to have them - LOL

Such beautiful images. Check out the farmhouse sink at IKEA. Really nice and so inexpensive.

Those pictures are HEAVENLY!!! I could, without a doubt, pull up an air mattress and LIVE in one of these kitchens. What else could I possibly need?

I mean... doesn't everyone bathe in their farmhouse sink??? ;)
